Stephanie S. Baier joined the firm in 2006, after practicing in New Haven for five years. Ms. Baier has practiced in the areas of municipal, commercial and residential foreclosures; insurance defense work including municipal, legal malpractice, automobile, E&O, homeowners (including property damage, fire, and mold) in both state and federal court; residential and commercial closings; plaintiff's personal injury; contract collection; evictions; bankruptcy; family law and small claims.
Ms. Baier has extensive research skills, having drafted numerous briefs at both the trial and appellate levels. She has successfully tried, mediated, arbitrated, and settled matters.
During law school, she served as a member, Executive Editor, and advisor of the University of Connecticut Insurance Law Journal. From 1993 to 2001, Ms. Baier worked in various capacities in the legal profession, including working for the Office of the Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Trustee from 1996 to 2001. While with the Bankruptcy Trustee's office, she taught a seminar to over 100 debtors' attorneys in Connecticut.

This article analyzes divorcing parties' ability to deal with alimony or spousal support in a premarital agreement. The author explains the current state of the law and practice in this area and outlines the impact of the UPAA as it applies in states that have adopted it.
